Readings from this week

The readings this week talked a lot about blogging, wikis, and digitial stories. I have had great experiences with both blogging and wikis. In high school, my English teacher used a class wiki to post all of our work and to submit all of our work. It was definitely something different from the usual paper syllabis and handing in hard copies of our paper. The class really liked it because it was something different and something that could be done on the computer. I havent really had any experience with digital stories, but I am really excited to learn more about them. I think this would get students more excited about just writing a paper because they would have to think about making their essays bigger than just writing on a paper.

  1. When I was in high school we never got the chance to use wikis, blog or digital stories. So when we talk about it in our class I am always the one who has never heard of it. I am so glad we are learning about and experiencing all of these, it gives the few of us who have never used them before the chance to experience them. Your were lucky enough to have a teacher who was not afraid to take a step into using technology in the classroom, which benefited you in the end.

  2. Casey, I don't think you are alone. Many of these tools are new to classmates and even to students that I have taught in the past.

Emily, that's wonderful that you have had some firsthand experience with these tools. I think the idea of a class wiki is a great way for students to keep updated on materials.
